What's your New Norm?

What’s your New Norm?

Everyone’s “norm” is different, as we all live different lives. We have the best intentions to live our best life, but sometimes lack the knowledge and/or support.  Do you:

  • Have ridiculous work hours and/or a family to care for, leaving you grabbing for whatever is easy?

  • Often say, “I don’t have time to…” or “I’m too tired to…”?

  • Find your eating habits veer toward the “dark-side” come the weekend?

  • Feel like you are “doing everything right” but not seeing results?

  • Realize rules change and old tricks don’t work as you get older?

Your New Norm comes with a personalized plan based on your food preferences, daily routine, and goals. Whether it’s a fresh start you’re looking for, have a big event coming up, or are frustrated because it seems you have tried it all diet-wise and found nothing has provided lasting results… whatever your motivation is, we’ve got you covered. In your initial session we’ll discuss your health and diet history, see what barriers maybe holding you back, tools on how to overcome them, and goal setting. Follow ups generally occur every 7-14 days for our new clients and consist of seeing what’s working and not working, continuous education, and goal setting. Commitment, accountability, and communication are key to your success. We can re-evaluate frequency after the first month or so.

Diabetes Management

Diabetes management starts with getting the right information and support. With the correct treatment and recommended lifestyle changes, many people with diabetes are able to prevent or delay the onset of complications. Balancing the food you eat with exercise and medicine (if prescribed) will help you control your weight and can keep your blood glucose in the healthy range.

As a Certified Diabetes Educator, I can provide the knowledge and tools you need to manage your diabetes with ease. Topics include: explanation of diabetes, carbohydrate counting, meal planning, treating hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia, avoiding complications, blood glucose monitoring, review of medications, weight reduction strategies, impact of physical activity, and recipe options.

Allergies... Intolerances... Special Diets... OH MY!!!

Whether you or your loved one has been diagnosed with a gluten, soy, dairy, or nut allergy/intolerance, celiac disease, put on a special diet, or you just know something’s not right, we can help. Figuring out what foods work for you can be very tricky and frustrating, but knowing you don’t have to deprive yourself if you are intolerant or allergic to certain foods is important. During your initial session, we will provide you with meal and snack ideas that incorporate product suggestions that have proven to be winners. In follow up sessions we will review what worked and didn’t work, expand your initial plan, discuss how to navigate menus, and discuss recipes so you can have your favorite foods and feel good too. We like to focus on what you CAN eat, not what you can’t eat!

Performance Nutrition

Whether you’re a high-school or college athlete, first-time marathoner, or elite athlete, nutrition is an essential component of achieving optimal health and performance. Strict, planned out training schedules are often followed, but eating habits aren’t always included in these schedules. Many race newbies and even professional athletes get frustrated that they’ve increased their training but the scale is moving up, they don’t have the energy they once had, or they aren’t seeing the results they want. Other athletes may know what doesn’t work for them, but haven’t quite tapped into the knowledge and tools that we can provide them to vastly improve their performance. Scheduling an appointment 2-3 months before your race or event is recommended; this allows us enough time to gradually tweak your routine and ensure optimum results.

Corporate Nutrition

Employee health is impacted by a variety of things including physical activity, stress, tobacco use, etc. Nutrition plays a critical role in employee health. Therefore, effective corporate wellness programs must focus on nutrition. The challenge facing many enterprises is to find cost effective solutions that are results oriented. Targeting employee nutrition is a great way for companies to reduce their healthcare costs and improve health outcomes without having to purchase tons of new equipment or construct a new gym in their facilities.

I work with all types of corporate clients from large firms or small start-ups. I offer a variety of individual lecture topics and lectures series, 1-on-1 desk side “speed” sessions and pantry makeovers, and we’re happy to create a customized program to suit your office needs.

Menu/Recipe Analysis

With consumers caring more about their health these days, nutrition facts have become a popular commodity. Allow us to calculate the nutritional value of your recipe, based on the type ingredients, portion sizes and method of cooking that’s entailed. Using state-of-the-art nutrition analysis software, we can generate nutrition labels detailing out the nutrition value (calories, fat, protein, carbohydrate, sodium, cholesterol, certain vitamins and minerals) for each serving of any of your products.
